Spine: Brown leather, no visible gold lining. Wear marks on top edge. Spine Lettering and Label: Red Title Ribbon. Block lettering visible. Cover: Leather Marbling with darker markings on right corners and edge. various small scratch marks. Back cover: wear marks on outer corners. Binding: repaired hinging, no front end papers. Single back endpaper. Title Page: Two title pages present. First title page: Darkening on border edges. Water stain top right corner. Second Title page: Dark coloring around page border edges. Similar water stain top right corner. Text: Full text block, no known markings. first few papers have water stains, top right corner similar to title pages. Back pages contain water staining on top gutter corners. Witness pages on same page leaf. Inscription: Back end paper verso: “L B Smith, his book, San Benito, January 1st 1851” with some other pencil marks. Notes: Very back of the volume has a few pages of index. Small library book sticker on the back inside pastedown. |
